    Abstract: Nowadays is growing importance of interdisciplinary research and in the field of cultural diversity, multiculturalism and intercultural cooperation. It is important also to take into account the global processes of changes associated with the dissemination of digital information and communication technologies. One of the theories which are essential in this area of research is the concept by E. Sapir and B.L. Whorf. The purpose of the article is to introduce into a current condition of scientific dispute concerning the views of these authors on the relationship between language and cognition. Paper is based on a critical analysis of the literature. In conclusion, the main findings and recommendations for further research were identified

    Abstract: Cognitive Poetics works on the triangle of author-text-reader. A main focus is the reader of literature, as a co-producer of the text alongside the author, in an attempt to explain how his/her knowledge and experiences are applied in reaching an understanding of a particular text in a particular context. In this paper several examples of how contextual frames can operate in a narrative are discussed in three works of short fiction by Joseph Conrad. Analyzed in the particular context of Conradian narrative and prose style are such points as: how the readers begin a story, how they enter into the interior levels of it in order to feel and touch the events in the way its characters do, how they follow every episode of it and, in other words, how the readers "comprehend" the narrative. It is argued that the application of insights from cognitive poetics to Conrad’s fiction is of particular relevance as Conrad is a writer who embodies and foregrounds this very act and process of "compre

    Abstract: Mit diesem Band wird nicht nur die historisch erste Dialog-Konsens-Methode zur rekonstruierenden Beschreibung Subjektiver Theorien, die Heidelberger Struktur-Lege-Technik, wieder aufgelegt, sondern es werden außerdem zwei weitere Verfahren solcher kommunikativen Validierung ausgearbeitet: eine Dialog-Konsens-Variante der Ziel-Mittel-Argumentation zur Einigung über Subjektive Theorien, die (auch) Wertungen, Ziele etc. enthalten, sowie die konsensuale Beschreibung von Handlungen (vor allem Handlungsabläufen) durch Flußdiagramm-Darstellung. Dabei werden diese dialogischen Forschungsmethoden sowohl in ihrem Bezug zum metatheoretischen Modell einer zweiphasigen Forschungsstruktur (kommunikative - explanative Validierung) als auch im objekttheoretischen Rahmen des Forschungsprogramms Subjektive Theorien eingeführt

    This book aims at building a bridge between the social and political aspects of remembering and the cognitive and discourse processes driving such activities. By analyzing these cognitive and discursive processes, Bietti explores practices of individual and collective remembering in institutional and private settings in relation to periods of political violence in Argentina. This books begins to fill the conceptual gap between cognitive oriented approaches to remembering that draw conclusions about how memory functions in the mind without a detailed discourse analysis of the communicative interaction in which this process unfolds, and the discourse and pragmatic oriented approaches that are mainly interested in analyzing the rhetorical features of conversational remembering, in some cases disregarding that there are underlying cognitive mechanisms that drive the construction of discourses about past experiences. The empirical analysis shows that individual and collective remembering in relation to periods of political violence in Argentina vary in pragmatic ways due to the fact that these accounts of the past were constructed with reference to the communicative situation. Thus, this book also aims at shedding new light on the current practices of commemoration and remembrance related to periods of political violence in Argentina, in public and private settings
