The book's thematic chapters investigate Poussin's women in their roles as predators, as lustful or the objects of lust, as lovers, killers, victims, heroines, or models of virtue. Poussin's paintings reflect issues of gender within his social situation as he consciously or unconsciously articulated its conflicts and assumptions. A gender studies approach brings to light new critical insights that illuminate how the artist represented women, both positively and negatively, within the framework in his seventeenth-century culture. This book covers the artist's works from Classical mythology, Roman history, Tasso, and the Bible. It serves as a good overview of Poussin as an artist, discussing the latest research and including new interpretations of his major works

    This Companion provides a guide to queer inquiry in literary and cultural studies. The essays represent new and emerging areas, including transgender studies, indigenous studies, disability studies, queer of color critique, performance studies, and studies of digital culture. Rather than being organized around a set of literary texts defined by a particular theme, literary movement, or demographic, this volume foregrounds a queer critical approach that moves across a wide array of literary traditions, genres, historical periods, national contexts, and media. Lacan), ce serait la grande leçon en Duchamp du signe : on ne fait pas d'enfant dans le dos de Duchamp, c'est lui qui vous en fait... après qu'il en eut fait plus d'un dans le dos de l'art, assigné au contemporain du champ qui sera du signe du sexe. Avec confusions en tout genre - et de tous les genres.. On pourra dire que ce sont des jeux de mots à la con. Sauf qu'ils sont porteurs de ces (non-)œuvres qui, pour une part, doivent rester inacceptables comme art pour manifester un "écart" dont elles intègrent pleinement la théorie (antiscientifique, antiphilosophique, antipsychanalytique). Un dispositif opérationnel et spéculatif étourdit la "décision du sens" des mots autant qu'il défie les attraits d'une esthétique pour leur substituer la déterritorialisation la plus crue et la plus sophistiquée de la ritournelle readymade ou readymale de la sexuation. Nous nous sommes donc exposés dans cet essai en "charnière" qui marie une espèce de roman policier (le R. Mutt signant l'urinoir serait le pseudo en miroir de la déesse Mut d'un Freud américain) à une sorte de science-fiction (avec machines volantes et montres molles redressées par Lacan) faisant si bien "trou" dans le dicible du "champ freudien" que nous y avons trouvé matière à mutologie queer. Ce qui est, à tout prendre, conforme au "renvoi miroirique" de tous les signes empruntés à grande allure par Duchamp pour les soumettre aux Litanies du chariot en faisant machine désirante d'une Rrose Sélavy aux excentricités innombrables.     Diagramming fluidity is a research project by design researcher and visual sociologist Floriane Misslin. The project investigates how producers of fashion photography actualize the fluidity of gender in an industry that is oh so dominated by established modes of production and consumption based on the gendered binary division of women(swear) and men(swear). The project outlines the conditions in which the fluidity of gender is being actualized in the production of fashion photography. Floriane Misslin interviewed several practitioners to discuss, question, and reflect upon the past and present of gender fluidity within the field. What gendered divisions have been made so far within fashion (photography)? Is there any room for non-binary visualizations? What is left unsaid, and what is missing? The outcome of the series of interviews is a selection of manifestos that both textually and visually as well as diagrammatically show the different means of making a gender fluid approach to fashion more visible within visual culture. About Floriane Misslin: Somewhere between visual and critical design, fashion and gender studies, sociology and its research methods is where Floriane Misslin's practice resides.
