    Are stereotypes possible pillars supporting the learning of a foreign language or are they possible sources of intercultural misunderstandings? In most coursebooks, intercultural materials are embedded in teaching units. The understanding of others is closely related to the understanding of someone's own culture as well as the target culture. Only when someone is aware of the own culture, then the target culture can be understood. In foreign language learning, it plays an important role, so that the knowledge of language structures alone is not enough to use the language successfully. At the same time, it requires cultural knowledge of the target language culture. This study focuses on the effects of culture-based fossilized prejudices on foreign language learning and to show the quantity of these stereotypes in given coursebooks. A coursebook analysis reveals to what extent stereotypes can be found in the respective GFL and TFL coursebooks. A compile of given stereotypes create an overall picture of foreign cultures. To what extent this overall picture reflects the reality has been handled at the end of this study Kalıplaşmış yargılar (klişe sözler) yabancı dil öğrenmeyi destekleyici unsurlar mıdır, yoksa olası yanlış anlamaların kaynağı mıdır? Çoğu yabancı dil öğretimi ders kitabında konular kültürlerarası materyallerle örülmüştür. Yabancı algısı kültür algısı ile yakından ilişkilidir. Yabancı bir kültürü anlamak ancak kendi kültürünü iyi tanımaktan geçer. Yabancı dil öğrenmek tek başına dille ilgili yapıların öğrenilmesi değildir. Yabancı dili öğrenmek için hedef dilin kültür bilgisi de gereklidir.

    Bu çalışma anılan kültür olguları bağlamında kalıplaşmış yargıların (klişe sözlerin) yabancı dil öğrenme üzerindeki etkilerini ve ders kitaplarında ne sıklıkta kullanıldıklarını ortaya koymayı ve incelemeyi amaçlamaktadır. Bu bağlamda yabancılar için Türkçe ve Almanca ders kitapları incelenmiştir. Tek tek kalıplaşmış yargılardan hareketle genel bir yabancı kültür yansıması ortaya koyulmuştur. Çalışmanın sonuç bölümünde bu genel yansımanın gerçekle ne ölçüde örtüştüğü tartışılmaktadır.

    Das Ziel dieses Beitrags besteht darin, am Beispiel der türkischen Germanistikstudenten an der Ege Universität die Merkmale und Entwicklung der pragmatisch-diskursiven Fähigkeit als eine Teilkompetenz der fremdsprachlichen Gesprächskompetenz zu untersuchen. Die Arbeit gliedert sich in zwei Abschnitte: Der erste Teil befasst sich mit der ausführlichen Beschreibung der Gesprächskompetenz als fremdsprachliche Kompetenz im Deutschen als Fremdsprache, der Bewertung der fremdsprachlichen Gesprächskompetenz als sprachproduktive Leistung und der Vorstellung von Subkategorien der pragmatisch-diskursiven Fähigkeit anhand der Beispiele aus dem Arbeitskorpus. Im zweiten Teil wird das Untersuchungsdesign und die Analyseergebnisse ausführlich dargestellt. Speech competence, which is the most concrete indicator of knowing a foreign language but is ignored in foreign language education, can be defined as an individual's ability to use that language fluently and effectively in varying communicative situations in a suitable manner to the topic, situation and the partner and the ability to maintain communication in that language without problems. The acquisition and progress of speech skill causes a significant problem for the students at the departments of German Language and Literature as well as German Language Education who learn German as a second foreign language after English in Turkey. Based on this fact, this study aims to analyse the progress of pragmatic and discursive competence of the students who learn German as a second language after English to form a whole through corpus-based data collected via a longitudinal study (between 2011-2014). In the experimental part of the study the corpus-based data was extracted from 20 exam and control speeches of 5 to 20 minute length applied to 8 students at the German Language and Literature department of Ege University Faculty of Letters and this data has been transcribed according to "the discourse and conversation-analytic transcription system" (GAT-2). According to the criteria of the progress of pragmatic and discursive competence have been analysed on one exam and 2 control speeches and then the quantitative data of the study has been collected, and thus the progress in 3 years was determined. The study reveals that the pragmatic and discursive competence of the students of the German Language and Literature Department who took part in the study as subjects did not improve significantly over the three years of undergraduate education following their first year at the university solely through attending courses. Bir yabancı dil bilmenin en somut göstergesi olan ancak yabancı dil öğretiminde geri planda kalan konuşma becerisi, bireylerin yetkin oldukları yabancı dili farklı iletişim durumlarında, konuya, duruma ve partnere uygun, akıcı ve etkili şekilde kullanmaları ve bu dilde iletişimi sorunsuz sürdürebilmeleri şeklinde tanımlanmaktadır. Konuşma becerisinin edinimi ve gelişimi, Türkiye'de Almancayı İngilizceden sonra ikinci yabancı dil olarak öğrenen Alman Dili ve Edebiyatı ve Alman Dili Eğitimi Bölümlerinin öğrencileri açısından büyük sorun teşkil etmektedir. Bu gerçekten yola çıkılarak, çalışmada Almancayı İngilizceden sonra ikinci yabancı dil olarak öğrenen öğrencilerin Almanca edimbilimselsöylemsel becerilerinin gelişimlerini boylamsal araştırma yöntemiyle toplanan sözlü derlem verileri üzerinde araştırmak amaçlanmıştır. Araştırmanın deneysel bölümünde, Ege Üniversitesi Edebiyat Fakültesi, Alman Dili ve Edebiyatı Bölümünden 8 öğrencinin, 2011-2014 yılları arasında belirli zaman aralıklarıyla 3 kez uygulanan, süreleri 5-20 dakika arasında değişen toplam 20 sınav ve kontrol konuşmasından araştırmanın sözlü derlem verileri elde edilmiş ve bunlar 'Konuşma Analizi Transkripsiyon Sistemi'ne (GAT-2) göre yazıya aktarılmıştır. Her deneğe ait bir sınav konuşması ve iki kontrol konuşması, Edimbilimsel-Söylemsel Becerinin gelişiminin değerlendirilmesine yönelik belirlenen kriterler açısından incelenerek çalışmanın sayısal verileri elde edilmiş ve bunların 3 yıllık süreçteki değişimleri saptanmıştır. Çalışma sonucunda araştırmaya denek olarak katılan Alman Dili ve Edebiyatı Bölümü öğrencilerinin edimbilimsel-söylemsel becerilerinin sadece alan derslerine katılım ile önemli düzeyde gelişmediği ortaya çıkmıştır.

    Die Translation stellt eine Handlung dar, die die Translatoren als Handelnde steuern. Dies ist auch in unserer heutigen Translationswelt gültig, in der die Informationstechnologien ihre Existenz auf der praktischen Ebene immer mehr spüren lassen. Seit langem wurde und wird es zu einem Anspruch darauf, gewisse sachgerechte Kriterien im Bereich der Translation herausfischen und einsetzen zu können, wie es auch in anderen praxisorientierten Bereichen der Fall ist, in denen der Mensch im Mittelpunkt steht.

    Während die Translationswissenschaft als eine selbstständige Disziplin im rein wissenschaftlichen Bereich (pure research) darauf abzielt, alle zum Translationsphänomen gehörigen Aspekte zu beschreiben und daraus allgemeine Gesetzmäßigkeiten abzuleiten, versucht sie im angewandten Bereich (applied research), sachgerechte Kriterien zur Translationspraxis zu erstellen. Deswegen sind die Translationswissenschaftler auf der Suche nach sachgerechten Kriterien u.a. im Bereich der akademischen Translationsdidaktik, wie es in der Übersetzungskritik, in der Übersetzungspolitik und in Hilfsmitteln für Translation erscheint.

    Reduziert man die Problematik auf die Lehrveranstaltungen, bei denen die Translationsaufträge gegeben wird, lässt sich nicht behaupten, dass die Textauswahl im Translationsunterricht auf rein objektive Argumentationen basiert. Dieser Sachverhalt macht die Behandlung der vorliegenden Thematik ausschlaggebend. Das Ziel des Vorhabens ist es, die Kriterien der Textauswahl im Translationsunterricht festzustellen. Çeviri, birer eyleyen olarak çevirmenlerin yönlendirdiği bir eylemdir. Bu gerçek, bilgi teknolojilerinin bu uygulama sahasında varlıklarını yoğun biçimde hissettirdikleri günümüz çeviri dünyası içinde de geçerliliğini korumaktadır. İnsanın merkezde bulunduğu her uygulama sahasında olduğu gibi çeviri alanında da nesnel ölçütlerin bulunup uygulanabilmesi, beklenen ve arayışında olunan bir konu olagelmiştir.

    Bugün özerk bir araştırma alanı olarak çeviribilim, salt araştırma alanında (pure research) çeviri olgusuna dâhil bütün boyutları betimlemeye ve buradan üst ilkelere ulaşmaya çalışırken, uygulamalı araştırma alanında (applied research) ise çeviri edimi ile ilgili nesnel ölçütler üretmeyi denemektedir. Bu yönüyle çeviribilimciler, çeviri eleştirisi, çeviri politikası, çeviri araçları alanlarında olduğu gibi akademik çeviri eğitiminde de nesnel ölçütleri aramaktadır.

    Konu somut olarak çeviri uygulamalarının yaptırıldığı derslere indirgenirse, çeviri derslerinde metin seçiminin, bugün öznel gerekçelere dayandığı söylenebilir. Bu durum, bu çalışmada seçilen konunun sorunsallaştırılmasını önemli hale getirmektedir. Bu çalışmanın temel amacı, çeviri derslerinde metin seçiminin ölçütlerini saptamaya çalışmaktır.

    Translation activity played a significant role in the 18th century in terms of a westernization and modernization of the Ottoman State. It was very influential in shaping political and scientific ideas as well as in spreading the ideas of the enlightenment age of the Ottoman period. These developments continued during the foundation years of Republic of Turkey. Those "secret heroes", translators, are less well known than the contributions they made to Turkish literature. Well, who were those translators? Whose works were translated? From which languages were they translated and when were they published and by which publishing firms? This lexicon Türkçe Çevirmenler Sözlüğü, we aim to compile lists of translators who enriched Turkish literature by means of translation, following the example of other lexicons. The idea of "Türkçe Çeviriler Bibliyografyası" (Bibliography of Turkish Translations) has been also developed within the context of the GIP (Germanistische Institutspartnerschaft) partnership between Ege University and Johannes Gutenberg University. The project began with a lengthy search for a suitable methodology. The resources we decided to use for identifying works translated into Turkish are the National Collective Catalogue database of TUBITAK and ULAKBIM as well as the Republic of Turkey Ministry of Culture and Tourism General Directorate of Libraries and Publications that contain the records of, among others, Ege University Library, Hacettepe University Library, Istanbul University Library, Boğazici University Library and National Library. For this lexicon, the language and literary works, which were printed in Latin alphabet and translated into Turkish from the early years of the Republic to the year 2016, were examined in terms of literary genres such as prose, verse and theater, and the records of 18.741 translated works and 6.006 translators were identified. Çeviri faaliyeti, 18. yüzyılda Osmanlı Devleti'nin batılılaşması ve modernleşmesinde önemli bir yere sahipti. Bu amaca yönelik olarak çeviri eylemi, Osmanlı döneminde aydınlanma çağındaki fikirlerin yayılması ile birlikte siyasal ve bilimsel fikirlerin yerleşmesinde de çok etkili olmuştur. Bu durum Türkiye Cumhuriyeti'nin kuruluş yıllarında da devam etmiştir. Bu çeviri faaliyetini gerçekleştiren "gizli kahramanlar", yani çevirmenler, Türk diline ve edebiyatına yaptıkları katkılara nazaran pek tanınmazlar ve bilinmezler. Peki, bu çevirmenler kimlerdi? Kimlerin eserleri hangi dilden ve ne zaman çevrilip, hangi yayınevleri tarafından yayımlanmıştır? Türkçe Çevirmenler Sözlüğü'nde Türk edebiyatına katkıda bulunan ve Türk edebiyatının çeviri yoluyla zenginleşmesinde katkı sağlayan çevirmenlerin listelerini oluşturmak amaçlanmıştır. Ege Üniversitesi ile Johannes Gutenberg Üniversitesi Germersheim-Mainz (Almanya) mütercim tercümanlık bölümlerinin ortak yürüttükleri GIP (Germanistische Institutspartnerschaft) projesi bağlamında Türkçe Çeviriler Bibliyografyası kitap çalışması fikri de ortaya çıkmıştır. Uzun bir yöntem arayışından sonra başta Ege Üniversitesi Kütüphanesi, Hacettepe Üniversitesi Kütüphanesi, İstanbul Üniversitesi Kütüphanesi, Boğaziçi Üniversitesi Kütüphanesi ve Milli Kütüphane kayıtlarını barındıran ve T.C. Kültür ve Turizm Bakanlığı Kütüphaneler ve Yayımlar Genel Müdürlüğü ve TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM'in Ulusal Toplu Katalog veri tabanından yararlanılarak yabancı dilden Türkçeye aktarılan eserler ele alınmıştır. Çalışmada Cumhuriyetin ilk yıllarından 2016 yılına kadar Türkçeye aktarılan dil ve edebiyatların nesir, nazım ve tiyatro gibi edebi türlerine göre çevirileri incelenmiştir. Toplam 18.741 eser ve 6.006 çevirmen kaydına ulaşılmıştır.

    The study on hand aims to report the German literal works translated into Turkish/ or published in Turkey partaking in the Turkish Translations Bibliography from the establishment of the Republic to the year 2016. For this purpose first a database was created by scanning various printed and electronic resources (http://www.toplukatalog.gov.tr; kasif.mkutup.gov.tr and koha.ekutuphane.gov.tr) as mentioned in the resource book of the Turkish Translations Bibliography. Based on this information this study seeks the answers to the following questions: 1. According to the years when the works translated from German into Turkish are determined, what kind of picture will come out? 2. How many books have been published in each literary genre? 3. Which author's works have been the most translated into Turkish so far? 4. Which publishing house have the most published works translated from German into Turkish? 5. Which translators brought in the most of the works from German to Turkish? Referring to the answers of these questions, the graphs based on quantitative values were prepared. Afterwards these graphs are evaluated in a qualitative method and it is discussed which criterions are taken as a basis and how the choices of translators -according to the period or translator- are made by the help of translating. Önümüzdeki çalışma, Türkçe Çeviriler Bibliyografyası adlı çalışmada yer alan bilgiler ışığında Türkiye Cumhuriyeti’nin kuruluşundan 2016 yılına kadar Türkçeye çevrilmiş ve/ veya Türkiye’de yayımlanmış Alman edebi eserlerini raporlamayı amaçlamaktadır. Bu amaçla öncelikle, Türkçe Çeviriler Bibliyografyası kaynak kitabında da belirtildiği gibi çeşitli basılı ve elektronik kaynaklar (http://www.toplukatalog.gov.tr; kasif.mkutup.gov.tr ve koha.ekutuphane.gov.tr) taranarak bir veri tabanı oluşturulmuştur. Önümüzdeki çalışmada bu bilgilerden yola çıkılarak aşağıdaki soruların yanıtları aranmıştır: 1. Yıllara göre Almancadan Türkçeye çevrilen eserler belirlendiğinde karşımıza nasıl bir tablo çıkacaktır? 2. Her edebi türden toplam kaç kitap yayımlanmıştır? 3. En çok hangi yazarların eserleri Türkçeye çevrilmiştir? 4. Almancadan Türkçeye çevrilen eserler en çok hangi yayınevi tarafından basılmıştır? 5. En çok hangi çevirmenler Almancadan Türkçeye eserler kazandırmıştır? Bu soruların yanıtlarına istinaden niceliksel değerlere dayanan grafikler hazırlanmıştır. Daha sonra ise hazırlanan bu grafikler niteliksel olarak değerlendirilerek eserler Türkçeye çevrilirken hangi ölçütlerin esas alındığı, çeviri tercihlerinin- dönemine veya çevirmenine göre- nasıl yapıldığı tartışılmaktadır.
