The present research explores the strategies to reformulate complex syllabic constituents in the Interlanguage of 18 Brazilian learners of German as a Foreign Language. Our hypothesis predicts that these learners have difficulties in producing initial onsets and final codas in German and apply different repair strategies to accommodate them to the syllabic structure of L1. From the concept of Interlanguage (SELINKER 1972) as a natural language, emerging from a systematic and complex dynamic process, which is developed independently by non-native speakers of an L2 in its acquisition / learning process, with the aim of strategic communication and suffering adaptations from the testing of hypothesis about L2 and interaction events, we analyzed across onsets and codas in correlation with the learner's level of proficiency, style (LIN 2001, 2003) and markedness of the constituent (GRENNBERG 1966b). The results reveal that the frequency of clusters modification shows correlation with these factors: the more formal the task and more advanced the learner, the fewer modifications occur. The influence of syllable markedness and linguistic universals was observed for the coda, typologically marked, being more often modified than the onset.

In this article, we ponder on the influences of previously learned languages on the process of learning German as a third language by Brazilian students. This influence can take place through intentional and self-controlled or unintentional linguistic transfers. When intentional, they are considered learning strategies and/or communication strategies, depending on the theoretical framework. Based on an empirical research conducted in 2017 and debates in the academic area around this subject (OXFORD 1990, 2011; BIMMEL e RAMPILLON 2000; SELINKER 1972, 2014; HUFEISEN 2010), this article intends to analyze the strategies used by Brazilian students of German as a third language in an online chat, and also talk about the uncontrolled interlingual influences. The results obtained point to contrasts (1) between the types of strategies used by learners at different levels of learning and (2) between the languages that exerted more influences on them: more proficient learners used strategies that mobilized more elements of the target language (for example, circumlocutions), and were not influenced exclusively by their native language (only by L1 and L2 concomitantly or only by L2), as opposed to less proficient learners.

The collaborative context of language learning in Teletandem (TELLES; VASSALLO 2006) involves the principles of autonomy, reciprocity and separation of languages, as well as the mediation of the partnerships (in Vygotskian terms). This article aims to discuss the formats of teletandem mediation, by focusing on the strategies used to reconcile the management of interactions (SALOMÃO 2008) through reflective journals in our specific educational context This qualitative investigation is based on the analysis of a corpus of reflective journals produced after teletandem sessions by Brazilian students and the feedback offered by the mediators. The Brazilian participants wrote journal entries after practicing teletandem with speakers of the following foreign languages: English, German, Italian, and Spanish. They address a wide range of topics, covering aspects of technology, foreign language learning, methodological issues, as well as comments on the relationship with their partners. The data suggest great potential of the journals and the feedback for participants, mediators and coordinators to evaluate specific issues of collaborative language learning in the teletandem, as well as other relevant aspects for the pedagogical supervision of the project.

With reference to the undergraduate course on Portuguese and German at a Federal University in Southeast Brazil, the article first describes some fundamental elements of German language teacher training in the country. Hereby it becomes clear how important the integration of theory and practice is for the training of student's competencies. In this context, the article secondly gives insights to a subject offered at that university, in which the participants use bases of action research by reflecting on their own teaching and thus strengthening their professional performance as teachers. Finally, some suggestions from this experience will be formulated for a meaningful integration of reflective elements in the teacher training.

For a long time, colonialism seemed to play a sidelined or incidental role in Germans' historical consciousness and little attention was paid to Germany's involvement in the colonial process. Only the emergence of a black African postcolonial literature in Germany has helped to make the colonial experience visible as a common heritage between Germans and Africans. The focus of texts written by African authors in German is to look back at past events, which are thematized from different perspectives. The present article examines the memory of the German colonial past with the example of two Cameroonian texts. This postcolonial reappraisal of colonial memory, as presented by Daniel Mepin and Philomène Atyame, revolves around coping with the past and mutual cultural rapprochement. To achieve this goal, Jan and Aleida Assmann use the term "cultural memory" to provide theoretical foundations that can make my thinking more plausible.
